Rich Chocolate Cake Bars

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 can (16 ounces) chocolate syrup
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts
- GLAZE:
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1/3 cup butter, cubed
- 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions
- In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat
- in eggs and vanilla. Beat in syrup. Combine the flour, baking powder
- and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture. Stir in nuts. Pour in a
- greased 15-in. x 10-in. x 1-in. baking pan.
- Bake at 350° for 20-22 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near
- the center comes out clean.
- For glaze, in a heavy saucepan, combine the sugar, milk and butter.
