This is wonderful fast-to-fix munchie. The recipe makes a generous 24 cups and doesn't involve any cooking. It's a cinch to package in individual snack bags, keeps its crunch and is a savory alternative to the cakes and pies usually offered at bake sales. -Linda Murphy Pulaski, Wisconsin

And, I used two packages of ranch mix.
The recipe I have uses popcorn oil and you bake it for 40 min at 250 degrees, stirring every ten minutes. I pour it out on paper towels to absorb some of the oil after it bakes.

Wouldn't let me add 5 stars on earlier post :)
LOL! It wouldn't let me add stars before.
I've made a similar recipe. The only difference was I added mixed nuts and m & m's. Big hit!!

I really wanted to bake this, but there just isn't any need. I added about 1/2 teaspoon extra ranch and it came out perfect!

I have made this recipe since it first came out in fall 2001. I have made it for my son to take on band competitions to share with the bus load of band members and since he graduated 3 years ago, I still get requests for this mix through my daughter who is now traveling to band competitions. I use the multi-colored Gold Fish and this adds great Fall color to the mix. Great recipe, our favorite snack mix!

Easy to make but seemed a little too salty. Maybe next time I would use no-salt pretzels to cut down on the salt.
