Rather than use coleslaw mix I made my own which included sweet onion finely chopped. In place of the mayo, I used Miracle Whip which has a little more zing to it and black pepper to taste.

We all loved this recipe! Even my children who do not like mayonnaise based coleslaw recipes had seconds of this one.I did add a little more sugar and a little more ranch dressing.I already have this on the menu for next week. And I am planning on doubling the recipe so that my husband can take some of it to work with him.

I made the cole slaw for a family get together and we found it too bland as well. However it makes a great topping for burgers!!

I'm sorry, but we did not care for this. The salad was too bland and did not have any tang or zip to it, which a coleslaw should.
