I found this recipe about 5 years ago and have been making it for family gatherings ever since. The coffee-flavored frosting complements the moist banana cake. —Kathy Hoffman, Topton, Pennsylvania

Mad ethis and it's definitely tasty. A good alternative to blackened bananas other than the same ole boring banana bread! Frosting is deceptively good!

LOVE this recipe! The cake is very moist and fluffy, and the coffee frosting is to die for! I added a little extra coffee to make it a stronger flavor.

I settled on this recipe after looking at several of the others, and I am not disappointed. I liked that it had just one cup of sugar, so the cake is not overly sweet, and I like the addition of sour cream for the moistness. I used light sour cream. I did not make the frosting--I don't think my crew would have liked the coffee flavor--so I just used store bought cream cheese frosting and added some yellow food coloring, which my 6-year-old and 4-year-old (who helped make the cake) thought was great. I will definitely make this a go-to recipe.

Everytime I have brown bananas on my counter, this is my go-to recipe. My husband used to make the banana bread in the house from an old Joy of Cooking book, but mine 'takes the cake'. I make exactly as written. It is supurb.

Delicious but does not rise unless I buy a new box of soda every time, and has a heavy doughy bottom. Followed recipe exactly, not my oven because everything else I bake in it turns out perfect. What am I doing wrong? Does it need baking powder also? Hope someone can help me.

This cake was so delicious I will definitely make it again. My coworkers loved it. I changed the frosting to a plain cream cheese frosting and it worked wonderful.

this cake is absolutely delicious-moist(although it didn't last very long). The coffee flavored frosting was the best. I have made this again & again & have given this recipe to others. I used expresso powder & did not dissolve before adding to powdered sugar. Nice kick.Would not have thought of combining the two flavors, but wow did it taste good. Thanks
