I found this recipe about 5 years ago and have been making it for family gatherings ever since. The coffee-flavored frosting complements the moist banana cake. —Kathy Hoffman, Topton, Pennsylvania

My husband requested a banana cake for his birthday. I'm so glad I used this recipe. The final product was delicious! He proclaimed it one of the best-ever birthday cakes.I substituted plain yogurt for the sour cream since that is what I had "on hand."

This was very tasty, especially when served warm. I love the combination of banana and coffee! The texture of the cake was more dense than I would have liked and didn't look too much like the picture. But it was a very good banana cake.

Not a very good recipe, the batter hardly rose. Im thinking its the lack of baking powder in the recipe. 1 star and I will never make this recipe again!

I've had this recipe for about 20yrs. A neighbor gave it to me & have been making it ever since. I changed mine a little. Only used 3/4 c sugar, used non-fat banana yogurt & baked in a 15X11" pan . I topped it w/chopped nuts before baking & omitted the frosting or just dust w/powder sugar. Cut into bars & it is the best banana bars I ever tasted.

Didn't work for us! Flavorless cake favor, Icing was only thing we liked and it wasn't much of it to spread on cake.

Happened upon this recipe again and HAD to make it. MMMMMMMMM delicious! This time I didn't have any instant coffee powder so I used espresso shot instead of the milk. Worked just fine and had a much more 'real' coffee taste!

I used plain yogurt instead of sour cream. It was great.
This cake has a wonderful homemade taste. I give it 5 stars.

Made this for the second time today!Such a tasty banana cake - and not so heavy like some other recipes. The coffee frosting is definitely what makes it so good, I would never make the cake without it. Made it for some friends and one of them was begging for the recipe afterwards!!
