"A friend from church gave me the recipe for this satisfying casserole for the slow cooker," reports Julie Sterchi of Jackson, Missouri. "It's always one of the first dishes emptied at potlucks, and it can easily be adapted to personal tastes."

This definitely sounds like a good recipe; however, to make it more Weight Watcher appealing I would add Canadian Bacon in place of the pepperoni. I also would use whole wheat pasta.

This is going to be in my collection, right along with slow cooker lasagna. Thanks.

Re: Pizza Casserole

We've also called this a spaghetti casserole - using the leftover pasta & sauce by layering in a casserole dish sprayed with Pam, topping with pepperoni & sprinking parmasean cheese.

I have made this casserole for years and yet thought I had made it up! I have never used a slow cooker, just fix it on stove top and then bake for about 45 minutes in a 350 oven.

Would love to try this recipe but do not have a slow cooker. Would need an adjustment on time & temp. to try it in the oven. Any suggestions? DJP

The calories, fat and sodium are way to high - I may try this with adaptations - such as lean ground beef, low fat cheeses - and I most likely will eliminate the pepperoni and use fresh mushrooms instead of jars of mushrooms - that should reduce the sodium. To make it even healthier I will use whole wheat noodles. Can't wait to try this for a pot-luck at school - as I too am an empty nester.

This sounds great, but it is far too much for us empty-nesters. It seems to be a good recipe to just half. Has anyone tried this??
