This pepperminty sauce is one of my favorite Christmas gifts to give. I package it in a decorative jar, then add a container of chopped nuts to sprinkle over the topping.

Peppermint Stick Sauce Recipe
  • Prep/Total Time: 15 min.
  • Yield: 24 Servings

Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 cups finely crushed peppermint candies or candy canes
  • 3/4 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 jar (7 ounces) marshmallow creme

Directions

  • In a large saucepan, combine all ingredients. Cook over medium-low heat until mixture is smooth and candy is melted, stirring occasionally.
  • Pour into small airtight containers. Store in the refrigerator. Serve warm over ice cream or cake. Yield: 3 cups.

Nutritional Facts 2 tablespoons equals 76 calories, 3 g fat (2 g saturated fat), 10 mg cholesterol, 12 mg sodium, 13 g carbohydrate, 0 fiber, trace protein.

Homemade Peppermint Ice Cream

When peppermint stick ice cream isn't available, I crush 15-20 hard peppermint candies or small candy canes and fold into a half gallon of softened vanilla ice cream. —Barb Gribble, Arena, Wisconsin

This is such a wonderful treat. This is also good when spread between chocolate graham crackers, YUM!
