The inspiration for this cake came from one of my favorite flowers, the sunflower. The yellow peeps make eye-catching flower petals, and I carefully placed chocolate chips in a circular pattern to resemble the seeds in the middle of a sunflower. This cake is easy, but looks quite impressive. —Bethany Eledge, Cleveland, Tennessee

I've made this cake several times using different flavored cakes. It's fun, and very appealing to the eye. Always a hit.

I made this as a homemade chocolate cake with a cream cheese & chocolate filling with chocolate icing and it was fabulous. Gave it to my son's girlfriend for her Spring birthday and she loved it and the Peeps decorations. Placing the chocolate chip "seeds" one-by-one is a bit trying but the outcome is so amazing that it's really worth it!

The special thing about this cake is how it is decorated. I used a plain white cake mix. Frosted it with homemade chocolate buttercream frosting and did the Peep petals with chocolate chips in the center. But what really set it off was to place some fresh white flowers on the plate around the base of the cake. BEAUTIFUL!
