Peanut Butter Brownies
"I came up with these fudgy peanut butter brownies when I ran out of ingredients I needed for my usual recipe," relates Marcella Cremer of Decatur, Illinois. "They take less than 10 minutes to mix up."
24 Servings
Prep: 10 min. Bake: 30 min. + cooling
Ingredients
1 package (17-1/2 ounces) peanut butter cookie mix
1/2 cup baking cocoa
2/3 cup chocolate syrup
1/4 cup butter, melted
1 egg
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
or
peanuts
FROSTING:
2 cups plus 2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
1/4 cup baking cocoa
1/2 cup chocolate syrup
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions
In a large bowl, combine cookie mix and cocoa. Beat in chocolate
syrup, butter and egg until combined. Stir in nuts.
Spread into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking pan. Bake at 350° for
28-32 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes
out clean. Cool on a wire rack.
Meanwhile, in a large bowl, combine frosting ingredients until
smooth. Spread over brownies. Cut into squares. Yield: 2 dozen.
