Peanut Butter Brownie Bars Recipe
  • Prep: 20 min. Bake: 25 min. + chilling

Ingredients

  • 1 package fudge brownie mix (13-inch x 9-inch pan size)
  • 12 peanut butter cups, chopped
  • 1/2 cup salted peanuts, chopped
  • 2 cups (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1-1/4 cups creamy peanut butter
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1-1/2 cups crisp rice cereal
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Directions

  • Prepare brownie batter according to package directions. Spread into a greased 13x9-in. baking pan. Bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  • Sprinkle with peanut butter cups and peanuts. Bake 4-6 minutes longer or until chocolate is melted. Cool on a wire rack.
  • Meanwhile, in a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter; stir until smooth. Stir in the cereal, vanilla and salt. Carefully spread over brownies. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before cutting. Yield: 3 dozen.

Everyone loved them! I loved them, and that is what matters most. I did have trouble with the two layers sticking together whether room temp or straight from fridge...but I have no problem holding two layers together for something that tastes so wonderful. What can I say... I love candy and brownies, regardless of box or from scratch, and this is the best of both worlds!

I have made these brownies four times now and everytime they get raves. I think they are the best. I have substituted chocolate chips instead of the cut up candy bars and worked ok.

I made my brownies from scratch instead of using brownie mix, but then followed the rest of the recipe. Very tasty brownies! Definitely for chocolate lovers or those who like sweet desserts.

I haven't tried these yet, but it seems to me that if a 9" X 13" pan makes 36 brownies, you are cutting them pretty small. JD

I made yesterday and got nothing but complements and requests for the recipe. I didn't use salted peanuts as my husband is on low sodium diet and I used the unsalted I had on hand. When I make again, I think I will use just 1 cup of peanut butter and 1 1/2 C of chocolate chips instead of 2 C and see if they are really needed. No one complained about the unsalted peanuts. And I used the large pnb cups. Really yummy!
