I haven't tried this one yet, but plan to. If you're complaining about the brownie mix, you may as well complain about the peanut butter cups, peanut butter, chocolate chips and crisp rice cereal...they're all pre-made and store bought. I think the idea behind this was ease and convenience.

I agree with Gerome, I can't understand how you can call something "homemade" when you have used a mix as an ingredient! This said, I do exactly what shermanhenryfloyd suggested and make my own cake/brownie and then follow the rest of the recipe as written.

I love recipes that includes mixes - I bake for catering and if it saves me time and tastes yummy you cant beat it....i make brownies by mix for my catering and I have very "ELITE" customers and they love love love my mix brownies.

Sounds real yummy...but in this economy, why doesn't anyone make "by scatch" anymore. I don't have the expensive items that make it "quick" in my pantry anymore.

To geome: If your only complaint is that this recipe uses a mix, make your brownies from scratch and the follow the rest of the recipe as is!!!

Why would you send a recipe that includes a mix?

I made these for a birthday at work and everyone loved them and asked for the recipe! I followed the recipe to a T except for the peanut butter cups and peanuts. When I added those items it looked a little weak so I used almost 2X as much as the recipe called for; Perfection!

everyone who tried the bars just raved about them, the only concern I had was cutting them when cold, the top came off and the brownie was hard, just let them set and warm up and enjoy

This bar is heavenly! My friend brought them to share at work and we all enjoyed them.
