I'm pleasantly surprised! I'm not normally a burger lover but this is definitely one for the books. I left out the mushrooms and diced the onions... other than that I stuck to the written recipe. I think it would be good to try olives or mushrooms in it, but its not lacking any kick with just bacon, cheese, and onion.

I haven't made this recipe yet, but I will pare it down some. I will use bacobits, fresh mushrooms, etc., but skip the bacon grease sauteing, using olive oil instead. I will use 2% grated cheese, and sandwich thin buns. I will also use egg substitute. That would make it about 6-7 points ea., estimated, for Weight Watchers.

I cooked this for Sunday Lupper (mid afternoon meal) and got rave reviews with requests to make it again soon. I left off the onions and used Sandwich Rounds instead of Buns also used baby spinach leaves with the burgers. VERY GOOD!

Excellent recipe! I agree, use fresh ingredients. Thanks for reminding us that horseradish goes great with beef - I doubled the amount. These burgers are great to have without the bun seeing as most of "the works" are tucked inside - with various salads on the side. Thanks for the recipe!

This is similar to a number of "stuffed" burgers that our family has tried before, and it's quite good, but when they called it "Paul Bunyun," I was hoping for some kind of "blue ox" burger, or some special ingredient out of Minnesota, as long as it's not lutefiske! LOL

This is a great recipe. Best with fresh ingredients. Why do people come on here to yell about the calories? Get a life and eat one. One won't hurt you.
