This is the best new burger recipe we have tried in a long time. I'm not a big fan of mushrooms so we left those out. Great recipe!

While I was making these, I kept thinking, the end result had better be worth it because they are rather time consuming and messy. Just bit into one and yes it was well worth it. They taste amazing. I used sliced baby bella mushrooms because they are meatier and I didn't feel like lighting the grill so I broiled mine on high for 5 minutes each side.

We thought this was especially good! I added a little garlic powder and garlic salt instead of plain salt. A treat! I also spread some BBQ sauce on top as I was grilling.

The BEST burger recipe. I didn't have bacon so I left that out and added 2 gloves of garlic. Thanks for the recipe.

Made these last night. They are ausome!!! My husband never likes to try new things. We had company over so he was forced to eat them. He couldn't get over how good they were. YIPPY The only thing I did differnet was made them in the morning, wrapped each one in clear wrap and cooked them on the grill that night and used different cheese. I think letting them sit like that let the flavors really blend. My Husband wants to have company over again and make them again.

I don't normally like/eat burgers, but this one was excellent. Because I eat quite healthfully all the time, the spluge on these was well worth it.

I'm pleasantly surprised! I'm not normally a burger lover but this is definitely one for the books. I left out the mushrooms and diced the onions... other than that I stuck to the written recipe. I think it would be good to try olives or mushrooms in it, but its not lacking any kick with just bacon, cheese, and onion.

I haven't made this recipe yet, but I will pare it down some. I will use bacobits, fresh mushrooms, etc., but skip the bacon grease sauteing, using olive oil instead. I will use 2% grated cheese, and sandwich thin buns. I will also use egg substitute. That would make it about 6-7 points ea., estimated, for Weight Watchers.

I cooked this for Sunday Lupper (mid afternoon meal) and got rave reviews with requests to make it again soon. I left off the onions and used Sandwich Rounds instead of Buns also used baby spinach leaves with the burgers. VERY GOOD!

havent tried it yet but it sounds good lol people r even arguing over it wow. now now ladies lol its only food

Excellent recipe! I agree, use fresh ingredients. Thanks for reminding us that horseradish goes great with beef - I doubled the amount. These burgers are great to have without the bun seeing as most of "the works" are tucked inside - with various salads on the side. Thanks for the recipe!

If one is worried about calories & fat gram...post a slimmed down version & leave the rest of us alone!

This is similar to a number of "stuffed" burgers that our family has tried before, and it's quite good, but when they called it "Paul Bunyun," I was hoping for some kind of "blue ox" burger, or some special ingredient out of Minnesota, as long as it's not lutefiske! LOL

Coolbaugh: It's YOUR choice to eat or not eat this burger. Try it or stop whinning.

This is a great recipe. Best with fresh ingredients. Why do people come on here to yell about the calories? Get a life and eat one. One won't hurt you.

If you like burgers the way I do. you'll like this one. It's very easy to prepare and tastes great. Great for sports night or day for that matter. Yum yum!

Now THATS a burger! Only problem I had was that it came out thick and had to eat it with a fork. But the taste.....was heaven!

When my boys were not so "Paul Bunyan" size, I pared down a very similar recipe. I used ketchup, mustard, half a cheese slice and some steak sauce inside and stretched a pound of meat to make 4-5 servings. Now that they are adults, they love the "grown-up" version!
