Correction: Broccoli:)
My family loves brocolli, especially my five year old grandaughter. . . she says it's her favorite food. Can't wait to try this! Sound great and looks beautiful.

I don't understand why someone who hates broccoli would even bother to look at a recipe in which one of the main ingredients is broccoli!!! Go figure. If anyone can't find tortellini in their store (and I really can't understand why since it is in a lot of salad recipes) maybe mini ravioli would work in its place. I love the idea of using cheese cubes and turkey pepperoni in this. It would make it almost taste like antipasto salad. Yummy either way. I live in PA and can find tortellini in even the smallest stores, so I don't think it's a regional thing. It does come dried, fresh, or frozen in most every store. Hope you find it.

We loved this salad! Thank you for posting the recipe. Broccoli is the favorite vegetable in our family of five, and these flavors blended beautifully. What an amazingly ridiculous, childish and inappropriate comment by phyllisturner. A few words of advice ... if you see broccoli in a recipe, click off that recipe immediately and look elsewhere. Sheesh, it's not rocket science; it's a recipe that others (like my family) may enjoy.

I couldn't find red wine vinaigrette so I used Raspberry. The salad was out of this world. Definitely a keeper

Hi Velohic - the only time I see tri-color tortellini is in the dry pasta section, not frozen. It's decent quality if you follow the package directions. Hope that helps.

Way to go Velochic!!! I dont understand why SOME people feel the need to be so negative in their comments on this web site.I think this salad sounds wonderful just the way it is, and I plan to prepare it this weekend for my daughters baby shower. Thanks for posting this recipe!

Wow, that's really judgmental! Because YOUR family doesn't like broccoli, it's DISGUSTING? With attitudes like that, no wonder so many kids are picky!
Anyway, I think the thread has some great ideas. I was wondering if anyone knows where to buy TRICOLOR tortellini (white, spinach, and tomato pasta doughs). I have seen it before, but have not been able to find it for a couple of years. I'm in the Midwest.

This is a great salad that you can use your imagination with things you have in the house...use any veggie you like! Cheese or Dressing to your taste!

This sounds great - can't wait to try it. I, too, would add cauliflower, leave out the olives, and add bite-size cheese bits to it as my family loves all kinds of cheese. Also, maybe add a little Salad Supreme sprinkles for some extra spice. Very nice!!

Have you tried looking in the refrigerated deli section or the pre-packaged meat section at you grocer's? I know that at my regular grocery store it's kept in the pre-pack section in the meat dept. Good luck.

I am always looking for different dishes to take to our pot luck dinners in our park - I also will probably add cauliflower and use black olives, but the concept sounds great! Thanks for sharing.

I feel that people even if they don't like something should'nt say it is 'DISGUSTING' either. This salad sounds extremely good! And I can't wait to try it. But if you don't like an ingredient change it or add your own to make it what you like. I am changing the olives I don't like green, so I am putting black in instead. And I may even add some cauliflower.

This sounds very good. As to not liking broccoli, we don't eat mushrooms or black olives in our house and there are very few people in our whole family circle who eat those things, but do like broccoli. I think your comment "DISGUSTING" was totally uncalled for about this recipe. Save your comments for someone who cares. dv

Look for dried tortellini in the pasta section. I use Barilla varieties...a choice of at least 4...used to be cheese, spinach, mushroom were the ones I used most often. They are in a blue bag. Each bag has 4 servings I think. Follow directions, I drain mine into a large strainer and then dunk strainer and all into ice water to cool.

I haven't tried this recipe but do use fresh and dry tortellini all the time. We live in Alaska and get ours at Costco. Safeway and Kroger also have it both types. Hint--if you by fresh from Costco and its more then you need--just divide the package in into usable amounts and freeze. Then you always have some on hand for potlucks, etc. ' Akpillar

Hi, Thanks for the tips. No one around here has heard of it!!! This is not a big Italian area (W.V..) Is the website name you mentioned a manufacturer of the tortellini?

Hey there Toupee...quick questions for you. Where about are you?? Also, did you ask the grocery manager if they carry tortellini and if so to please help you locate it. It is usually in the frozen section near the ravioli, or dried in the pasta aisle or in the refrigerated section as well.Gee, life without tortellini...not in an Italian household.Good Luck and please let us know how you did in finding it. Oh, how about contacting Ronzoni on their website? They can tell you what stores carry it!

You can purchase tortellini in a box or bag at Wal-Mart or Kroger stores. You can get four cheese or mixed colors. Cook as directed, drain with cold water and mix as above. This is what I use all the time. My family loves it! I also use Italian Dressing instead of the red vinegarette. Taterbughanes

There are dried ones in the noodle aisle but usually in the deli area, there are fresh ones packaged, too.
I have looked everywhere for tortellini for recipes and cannot find!!!!
