“You can’t go wrong with this recipe. It looks fantastic and people just flock to it! It’s great with pasta, too.” Cheesy, buttery and finger-licking good, this bread is hard to beat. It’s so simple and the taste is sinful! Karen Grant - Tulare, CA

Everyone at the party said it was yummy. Very filling.

A group of 7 of us did not care for this at all. The lemon and mustard seemed out of place. I like the presentation and concept but I think next time I would just use the cheese and a garlic butter blend.

WAY too many calories and fat grams. It is so good, I want to eat it more often, SO I made it with fat free mayo rather than butter, and used half the cheese. Same excellent flavor as original recipe. I love adapting all these wonderful recipes to fit our needs, health-wise. I appreciate hearing how others adapt this and other recipes, and the end result. Being creative is what makes great cooks! This is definitely a keeper.

Very very good!! I cannot believe my family ate an entire loaft of bread with dinner!!

I made this for a 4th of July part and everyone loved it! It got eaten up so quick I wish I had made two. I will probably make this ALOT during football season.

It was a hit! I also used less cheese than recommended.

Didn't receive the raves I expected. I halved the cheese and mustard as suggested and used a combination on pepper jack and marbled colby/jack blend. Probably won't make it again.

Made this for superbowl party and was a great hit but I agree that is too much cheese so will use less next time. I also sprinkled with garlic salt

I substituted pepper jack cheese for the plain jack cheese and made five loaves to serve to guests - it was a gigantic hit! I put it all together, wrapped in foil and refrigerated overnight, then baked it five minutes longer before opening the foil since it was cold, worked just great.

Made this for the first time yesterday. Made it again today. It was wonderful. The only thing I did different was not to use as much cheese as the recipe called for. I could not fit it all in the bread. It was wonderful.

Big hit with both my family and co-workers!

This is a recipe from long ago. Loved it then and still making it!

I agree with Fuschia2000. Amen sister!!

I agree, all this substituting product from the original recipe is getting out of hand. Make the recipe as it stands and stop all this "I used this and I used that." Not everyone is interested in how you managed to totally change the entire recipe so that you can't even identify it with the original ingredients that were intended to be used.

I don't disagree with First Lady Obama and what she is trying to do, but if a recipe has too many calories in it for you, don't make it for crying out loud!!

Can't rate this yet. I will be making it for Daytona 500 Weekend. Sounds delious.

On another note, I wish people on here would stop being a "Michelle Obama", and trying to tell us what to eat. If you don't like the nutritional facts, don't make it. And for the others that change almost every ingredient, its not the same.

I made this recipe yesterday and everybody loved it! I used everything exactly to the recipe except half the ammount of mustard. Next time I will make this on split Italian bread with spaghetti. Definately a keeper!

Made this for the Super Bowl party yesterday. YEAH PACKERS!!! Several people offered other flavor combinations because most did not like the mustard. A pound of cheese was too much. Flavor suggestions: Olive oil (or a combination of OO and unsalted butter) / fresh garlic / freshly grated black pepper / freshly shredded parmesan cheese or 4 cheese blend / fresh basil (or other fresh herbs)....forget the celery salt and onion powder too. If you want onions, lightly saute chopped onions in the oil. Be sure to use a loaf of firm bread. As the recipe stands, there is WAY too much salt, calories, fat and carbs.

This recipe is a party pleaser....Could use a dip to compliment it!!! Any suggestions?

Reviewed on Feb. 06, 2011 by rkoneal1

I simplified the first ingredients, used butter, garlic powder, onion powder, celery salt and a dash of cayenne pepper. (no lemon juice or mustard) I also used shredded cheese..so easy and very delicious.

I used a combination of Swiss and Jack cheeses and added a tablespoon of Worchestershire sauce. I think these two changes added much more depth to the flavors.

Way too much mustard and cheese for this loaf of bread!

Wasn't worth the calories it had!

We are snowed in today, saw this recipe and luckily had all ingredients on hand to try it...YUM! I had a partial bag of fried onions so I stuffed them in with the cheese too. It was wonderful!

I haven't made this yet but it sure looks yummy. Just wondering how it is served? Do you just crab a chunk and pull or cut up more when it is finished baking?

This is truly excellent. I made it to try a week before Christmas and my family devoured it- even my MIL liked it and she claims to not like cheese. This will be one of my party stand-bys for sure!
