Oven Barbecued Chicken
Chicken and Sunday dinner go together in my mind. During my 20 years of married life on a dairy farm, I'd often brown the chicken and mix up the sauce while my husband milked, then pop it in the oven when we left for church.

INGREDIENTS
- Vegetable oil
- 1 broiler/fryer chicken, cut up (3 to 4 pounds)
- 1/3 cup chopped onion
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 3/4 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup hot water
- 1/3 cup cider vinegar
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons prepared mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
DIRECTIONS
Heat a small amount of oil in a large skillet; brown chicken in batches. Drain chicken on paper towels.
Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, saute onion in butter until tender; stir in the remaining ingredients. Simmer, uncovered, for 15 minutes.
Place chicken in an ungreased 13-in. x 9-in. baking dish. Pour barbecue sauce over chicken. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 45-60 minutes or until chicken juices run clear, basting occasionally. Yield: 6-8 servings.
