Some 17 years ago, when I was dating the man who is now my husband, his mother gave me this recipe for his favorite fudge. It's a tasty treat that's so simple to make.

This recipe is so easy and creamy. Everyone wanted a copy of recipe. I did boil it for the 6 min. started timing after I got a rolling boil. A definite keeper.

My granddaughter says it's as good as the fudge she got while at Mackinac Island, Michigan this summer. She says we could open a fudge store with this recipe.

Sure do remember Mamie.  I got the recipe years and years ago and it has never failed me.  I, too, got it out of a newspaper.  Another thing that you can do if anyone uses the  other marshmallow cream recipe is to use the dark chocolate chips they have now.  Delicious!

The only reason I can think of that it wouldn't set up is under cooking. Always be exact in the time or use a candy thermometer.

Turns out this is the same recipe I have been using for years, known as Mamie Eisehhower fudge. It's the best fudge ever.

I've made this fudge every Christmas since I found the recipe in the LA Times. It was called "Mamie Eisenhower's fudge." It's great, and it makes FIVE lbs, not 2 1/4 lbs.

Does anybody besides me remember Mamie Eisenhower? :)
