No-Bake Peanut Butter Bars

INGREDIENTS
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1 cup peanut butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1-1/2 cups crisp rice cereal
- 1/2 cup cornflakes
- ICING:
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup evaporated milk
- 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
DIRECTIONS
In a heavy saucepan, heat brown sugar and corn syrup over medium heat until sugar is dissolved. Stir in peanut butter and vanilla; mix well. Fold in cereals. Spread into a greased 11-in. x 7-in. pan. Combine icing ingredients in another saucepan; cook and stir over medium heat for 8 minutes or until sugar is dissolved and icing has thickened slightly. Pour over bars; spread evenly. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before cutting. Yield: 2 dozen.
