For a potluck or picnic, you can’t beat this classic side that starts with a pound of dried beans. Molasses and maple syrup give it a slight sweetness. —Pat Medeiros, Tiverton, Rhode Island

LOVED these. I did alter it a bit. I used the overnight soak method from the back of the beans pkg (I haven't always had good luck with the boil method). I substituted turkey bacon to cut the fat - diced it & fried it for a few minutes before adding the onion & garlic. Added the rest as instructed (except for reserving bean liquid) and poured it into my little blue roaster (JUST fit). Absolutely fantastic flavor. I'm making these for my daughter's bday and I can't wait for my mom (a great cook) to try them!

Fantastic! This was my first try at making baked beans from dried beans, and it was a huge hit! Everyone loved it and the flavor can't be beat!

There's a local beef house that had, until this recipe came along, my favorite beans. Now I can surpass them at home. Outstanding!

I prepared this recipe for Easter just as the recipe is written and it was wonderful. My son asked me if I had gotten the baked beans from Steve's Ribs a local barbecue restaurant. All the family enjoyed the beans and I will definitely make them again. Thanks!

Would you please post this recipe. Apparently Taste of Home won't allow non American citizens to read it, and I am a subscriber to several TOH magazines. Frustrating!

This recipe is time consuming but well worth the effort. I have been looking for a great baked bean recipe and this is it. Do not change a thing. Sweet and rich baked beans. Great.
