Better than restaurant cheese sticks. My kids absolutely love them. Even cheddar is good.

I make this terrific and easy appetizer for every holiday. Kids & adults love them. I mince garlic in a press and add a tiny bit (3 grains) to each wrapper-a little goes a long way for flavor. I also add a single piece of pre-sliced pepperoni cut in half. Once they are wrapped, they can be stored in the refrigerator in a ziplock bag until you are ready to fry them. Perfect for hectic parties. They fry up fast..almost as fast as people eat them!! Try any of the cheese sticks, jalapeño works great.

Super yummy and very easy to make. Anyone who complains about it being not so tasty....ya know mozzarella is very bland cheese. That's why it's dipped in marinara sauce. Totally easy & delicious!

The heat is too high for this, I turned it down to about 300 and also had the cheese at room temp. They turned out great and also used japeno string cheese. So good and easy.

I made these for a birthday party and they were literally gone before I put them on the table. I did make some "healthier" revisions like I cut the cheese in half and used weight watchers part skim cheese sticks. I also used one egg roll wrapper for two rolls! These were amazing tho! I MUST do again!

Mozzarella then the directions call for frying!!

These were good, but only after I used other cheeses. I put hot pepper and harvarti in a couple of the egg roll wrappers and rolled it with a mozzarella stick. I sprinkled it with garlic salt and used a sweet and sour dipping sauce instead of marinara. Delicious!!

i thought the idea of usig egg roll wrappers was a good one but the taste isnt. i thought they were really bland, the cheese didnt melt and if i had left them in the frier long enought to melt, they would have burned. im so bummed out about this. i wish i hadnt wasted my money.

A-W-E-S-O-M-E!

Just finished eating these and I was thrilled with the results.

I used Stop & Shop Mozzarella Sticks and as I was rolling them, I added a few shakes of McCormick's Basil & Garlic Seasoning.

They took about 2 minutes to fry to perfection, but there was no leaking of cheese and the inside texture was great.

I can't wait to try this with other flavors of cheese sticks.

I had trouble getting the cheese inside to melt befor the eggroll got to brown from frying. I put them into the oven for just a few.

They were very quick and easy!!

SO GOOD! I cut the mozzarella into thirds, moistened with water using a small basting brush then rolled them in seasoned bread crumbs as suggested. I have made these many, many times and everyone loves them!

I made these using pepper jack string cheese & baked as per other reviewer's. I do think they need some sort of seasonings or spicy meat to improve on the taste. Also they should bake at a higher temp, maybe 450* so they crisp up faster with less chance of the cheese running all over. Will try again!

I used the egg wash with Italian bread crumbs, then baked it in the over at 350...great suggestion! They turned out awesome. I like to add a lot of flavors, so inside I added a bit of garlic powder along with some Italian seasoning.

MADE IT FOR THE SUPER BOWL.. QUICK AND VERY EASY.. ALSO VERY TASTY! I MADE THEM HOURS AHEAD AND KEPT COLD UNTIL TIME TO COOK.

Reviewed on Feb. 05, 2012 by lacek714

Okay - so first, they are a really large size, I think I would cut everything in half if I did it again. Second, I tried them baked per the alternate instructions. 350F turning occasionally until browned. They were weird. The cheese melted great, but the taste of the wrappers was just off. It was a bit like uncooked dry pasta in some places and more like doughy fresh pasta in others. I was trying to save on the calories, but it was just a waste of ingrediants. Also, as other posters mentioned, this was rather bland and using a flavorful dipping sauce still didn't help. I think next time I will brush with garlic/olive oil and then sprinkle with spices inside and out. It is fun looking and definitely quick, but as is - baking is definitely not a do over. I might try one just as it's supposed to be made (fried) to see if that works out better. Otherwise, it seems like all the extra work to make them taste like the original breaded style undoes the short cut of making them this way at all. Thank you for the recipe though!

These homemade mozzarella sticks are my latest favorite appetizer recipe for company or anytime. They were a hit for Xmas eve in the midst of my seafood extravaganza with a little pizza sauce to dip them in. Everyone loved them, from the kids to the grandparents. I add a half of a slice of pepperoni and a tiny bit of fresh minced garlic to the wonton before wrapping. I use my deep fryer, makes it quick and easy. You can make these ahead and refrigerate them in a ziplock bag. Great for the holidays!

I added some Italian seasoning inside, then tried these using the baking suggestion from another reviewer. They turned out great. You definitely need to brush the tops with oil or spray with cooking spray, and turn them over about halfway through the baking time.

I sprinkle Italian seasoning over the cheese stick and insided of wonton wrapper before wrapping and sealing. I though it needed some seasoning. Never thought about the eggwash and Italian seasoned bread crumbs - will have to try that!!!!

These were very tasty .. I didn't have marinara on hand so I used spaghetti sauce as suggested but I didn't like that at all. The cheese sticks themselves were great!

These are so easy. And so delicious! Definitely adding to my appetizer rotation!

Reviewed on Jun. 14, 2011 by SleepingBeautie

Here are some baking instructions that I tried. My oven runs kinda hot, so even tho I used 350 you might want to use 400 if your oven is more 'normal.' Spray with Pam or something so they aren't brick hard, and cook for about 10 min then flip and go another 10 min or so. Keep on eye on them, everyone's oven is different!

Along with the cheese I used deli sliced turkey, but you could use pepperoni or chicken or anything!

Try using different dips too, I used ceasar dressing mixed with parmesan and pepper!

Egg-washing and dipping in bread crumbs sounds yummy too, I'll try that next time!

I came up with this type of recipe years ago and find the trick to keeping the cheese in is to put the logs in the freezer for about 15 to 20 minutes and quickly fry in very hot oil for about 1 to 2 minutes all sides. Drain on paper bags or newspapers and they won't be that greasy.

This recipe was amazing. It was so easy. I made them last night for a party that I had and everyone loved them. Everyone wanted this recipe. I gave it away more than any other recipe. I rolled them in seasoned bread crumbs. I was kinda scared to make them because of the egg roll wrap, so I only made a few for tester. I ended up making 50 of them and they were gone by the time they came out of the fryer and hit the plate. Thank you for sharing this great recipe.

You can also use wonton wrappers - which are smaller - if you cut the mozzarella sticks into 3 pieces. They are also found in the produce section of the grocery store, near the asian produce.

I couldn't find egg roll wrappers at the store so instead I tried using spring roll wrappers. They didn't work very well and even though I sealed the ends, cheese still oozed out when they were being cooked. My husband still liked them but I was dissappointed. I am going to keep looking for egg roll wrappers and make these again.

Actually, I have been making my own version of these since my children were very young. The four of them were watching a movie and I had yet to go shopping so little was available. I saw some wonton wrappers and american cheese and thus strated our life long love for cheesy wontons. Your version is good as well. I always made mine triangular because of the cheese I had on hand.

I use Sargento String Cheese (it's the perfect shape) + wonton wrappers. My husband says the smaller size is perfect. First saw this recipe in the Holiday '08 issue w/ a homemade marinara sauce. Both are excellent! I use as little oil as possible to fry these in, just enough to cover the pan bottom by maybe a 1/4-inch. Usually I serve them up immediately; I fried up 75 last night for a party this weekend and flash-froze the sticks. I plan to reheat in a HOT oven and see how well these do. I dislike my house smelling like cooking oil, especially with company coming! *grin*
