One of my mother's favorite dishes, this recipe always brings back fond memories of her when I prepare it. It's a terrific use of leftover ham from a holiday dinner. Our five grandchildren are my favorite interest outside the kitchen!

Husband that does not like scalloped potatoes and ham, LOVED this dish.I did use sharp cheddar cheese, onion powder and left out the celery. It was terrific with fresh biscuits.

I cut this recipe in half for 2 of us. I did not have potatoes so I used 1 1/2 cup frozen hash browns thawed. I used 1 grated carrot, 1 celery rib, and 1 1/4 C. ham and sauteed those in the butter. I then added 1/2 half cup thawed frozen corn & 1/2 cup thawed frozen peas & sauteed a couple of minutes. Did everything else exactly with half the amounts; thinned the cheese w/a little milk. Used Ritz crackers on top as one reviewer suggested. Served with a salad & Bread. Easy complete meal and we both loved it. Had left overs for the next night too. Definitely a keeper for my left over ham from now on.

I wanted to try some dish with leftover ham, and this recipe popped up. I had all the ingredients on hand and followed the directions. The flavor was nice. The consistency was a tad thin. And the only suggestion my husband gave was substituting egg noodles for the potatoes. This was nice though.

Yummy! Ham pot pie! I used sharp cheddar and more veggies than called for. I seasoned as I went along.I don't think seasoning only the cheese sauce is enough. I also added a bit of cayenne pepper to the cheese sauce. I did not have bread crumbs so I crumbled Ritz crackers on top. Even my husband liked it and he doesn't like cheese. The cheese sauce mixed with the potatoes and turned into more of a gravy.

This was so good. It was great comfort food. I made it exactly as directed and everyone in the family and the in-laws all loved it, too include a 4 year old.

I thought this was really good and fairly easy...my husband loved it too. I may leave out the celery (and I left out the green pepper). I too cut way down on the butter and it was still great!

Very yummy casserole.... we loved the cheesy sauce and classic flavor. I didn't make any alternations except leaving out the green pepper because I had none. Very good way to use up leftover ham in a way the whole family will enjoy!

Very good- sauce was thick so I added a little more milk to it. I cut down on the amount of butter, too, by about 2 1/2 tablespoons and didn't notice any deficiency in flavor. This was well-received by my family. I will make it again for sure.

Hot, creamy comfort food! Cheesy potatoes and savory ham melts in your mouth. I thinned the sauce with extra milk. This is my new favorite way to use up leftover ham. Very satisfying.

This was the best tasting ham casserole I have ever tasted. My family agreed by eating the whole thing up and asking for more. I doubled the recipe, used 1 large sweet potato and 1 large russet, left out the celery and used oat flour instead of wheat and it turned out perfect. Made it again for a pot luck and the dish was wiped clean. That in itself should tell you how good this casserole is. I will definitely make it again and I might try using chicken next time, which I think would be just as tasty. Enjoy!

I have made this multiple times since I found the recipe and it is terrific every time. The sauce gets a little too thick for my tastes when you follow the directions exactly, so after I have cooked the sauce and melted the cheese, I just stir in some extra milk to thin it out some. This is a new family favorite.

This is a great casserole for leftover ham. The sauce is thicker, but there is enough of it, and it makes the casserole oh so creamy. I plan to make it again for my son to take back to college, and I will double it for a 9 x 13. Thanks for a great recipe.

I used sweet potatoes from the garden to make this casserole. My husband and I both enjoyed the results. It's a keeper and I plan to make again.
