I was completely intrigued by the recipe. That flavors compliment each other beautifully. I am proud to be taking such a refreshingly different and delicious dessert to my ladies' progressive dinner tonight.

I was checking magazines before cleaning them out and came across this recipe. Boy am I glad I did. Don't be put off by the unusual ingredients combination because the final product is phenomenal. The orange flavor comes through but is tapered by the figs. Also, the walnuts are a great touch. My husband said this might be his new favorite dessert...at least until the next Taste of Home recipe is tried. The easiness of this recipe is another major bonus.

This may be the easiest recipe I have ever tried, and the results were fantastic. I hesitated over the odd-sounding combination of flavors, but these bars are delicious. I thought the nuts might prove to be too many, but they are the perfect quantity. I could only find a 13-oz jar of fig preserves, and I probably should have just used the whole thing, but I tried to use just 10 oz. All the nuts and the specialty jelly make this a bit on the expensive side if you are on a budget, but otherwise I cannot say enough good things about this recipe. I ran short on walnuts, so supplemented the difference with pecans. These freeze well, too, wrapped in plastic wrap, then foil, and then in a zip-lock bag.

I made this recipe, but used some fig preserves and also used orange marmalade.I used more walnuts than suggested, and next time might add chocolate chips...

my husband did/does not like orange cake and he absolutely loved the bars... yummy

My mother-in law made these a couple weeks ago and I just loved them...so did the rest of the family, too. I also just made them. They were yummy. I used the whole jar(13 oz) of the Bonne Maman fig preserves. Any large pieces in the preserves I just cut into smaller pieces. Instead of 2 cups walnuts, 1 3/4 cup came in the bag and this is all I used. It is a very easy recipe and great tasting, too!

Good, if you don't mind the artificial orange taste from the cake mix.
