Whenever I make these country-style rolls, I fondly remember my mothershe was an excellent baker who taught me so much in our North Dakota farm kitchen. Each year at Thanksgiving, my bread basket includes these hearty dinner rolls. Ardis Rollefson Jackson Hole, Wyoming

My daughter and I have been making these for years! They have become a Thanksgiving tradition! We usually make them the weekend before Thanksgiving. We start the recipe and when it's time to let them rise for 1 hour we put in the original Oliver movie. (Great way to tie in the being thankful and good things come to those who wait theme!!) LOL The movie is quite long and has an intermission. At that point we punch the dough down, shape and let them rise again. Then start the movie back up. When they're ready to bake we brush them with melted butter and cinnamon sugar. Then serve them with honey butter. ( I try not to add more than 6 cups flour because they can get a little dry!) Hope this can be a fun new tradition for others! Enjoy

Usually I use my bread maker to mix dough for rolls, but these ones I made from scratch. They were a lot of work. They turned out well and tasted good, but I'm not sure they were worth all the effort.
