Moist Chocolate Cake Recipe
  • Prep: 10 min. Bake: 30 min.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1/2 cup baking cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • Confectioners' sugar

Directions

  • In a bowl, combine the first six ingredients. Add egg and butter; mix well. Pour into a greased 8-in. square baking pan. Bake at 350° for 30-35 minutes or until cake tests done. Cool. Dust with confectioners' sugar. Yield: 9 servings.

I make this for my family at least once a month. They love it. And it is so easy, my teenaged girls can make it on their own too.

I spray the pan with Pam, then "flour" with baking cocoa. Very fast and economical cake!

This cake is wonderful! It has the light, moist consistency of a box mix cake with the rich flavor of a homemade cake. Also, incredibly easy to make with all the ingredients on hand. The size was perfect for my family of four. I will definitely add this to my favorite recipes.

This is a fantastic little chocolate cake. I love that it is a smaller size than most chocolate cake recipes so it is a nice "everyday cake". It is moist and delicious and whips up very quickly.

This was very moist and delicious. I made a simple frosting to go on top. I even had a hard too please teen who spent the night and had two pieces of it. Will make again.
