Here's a tasty treat that is a wonderful time-saver. No matter where I take these bars, no one can eat just one and I always get asked for the recipe. They look great piled high on a pretty platter and taste even better.Bobbi Brown, Waupaca, Wisconsin

I am trying to make these and have been through bags of butterscotch chips! Tried every method I can find online for melting without scorching. They just aren't melting right! Any suggestions? I can melt without the butter but with the butter it turns pasty!!

These are so good! I have made this recipe several times.I did score the bars before letting them cool and it made it easier to cut them.Be sure to melt the chips completely and I heated the mixture very briefly after adding the corn syrup. This made it easier to pour the sticky stuff over the nuts.Oh, so good! Thanks for posting.

Hi, Brenda, The other day, I made these bars; however the topping was very thick and I was unable to spread it. Did you encounter this problem? Can you give me some advise? Thanks, Elaine from Minnesota.

Help. I could not spread the butterscotch topping, or should I have just dropped it on top of nuts.

I also made these to use up a can of mixed nuts that had been lying around. They really are tasty and I found that they freeze well. I finally had to send them to my hubby's work to get them out of the house. Just too much of a temptation. All the co-workers happily gobbled them up while complaining what it was doing to their waistlines!

Some of the ratings categories are really arbitrary and unneccessary. "Made with ingredients on hand"? Depends upon how close you live to a grocery store and/or what you consider to be a well-stocked pantry. "Meets my dietary needs"? Come on--a recipe like this one does not meet anyone's dietary needs. It's full of fat, sodium and sugar. That doesn't mean that one can't indulge once in a while.I made these bars because I had a can of mixed nuts that had been sitting around since Christmas and I wanted to use them up. My husband once again told me, "Don't lose that recipe!" (As if!) He claims that they taste just like that Upper Midwest specialty, Pearson's Salted Nut Roll, but without the "sickly sweet white stuff in the middle."P.S. The combo of sweet and salty is sure to assuage the worst PMS cravings.
