This was fantastic! I did wind up adding more applesauce because the batter seemed dry.

Like others suggested, I used 1 cup of unsweetened applesauce and added 1 cup of mashed banana and more cinnamon & vanilla (personal preference). Omitted topping but sprinkled mini chocolate chips on top -- might add to batter next time! Preferred this to the first one which I made by directions -- good but not as moist!

I used Splenda in place of the sugar to lower the calories and doubled the apple sauce to increase the moisture. It was wonderful and will be my go-to recipe for left over apples!

I make this bread often, I usually double the amount of apple sauce for a more moist bread. It never last long in our house.

I absolutely loved this recipe, no one knew it was a healthier version and it freezes so well too.

I love this bread! It is VERY moist and I love that it's lower in calories! Excellent choice for a sweet bread.

This bread turned out quite yummy, but I had to put more applesauce in and even dump in some buttermilk too because the batter was so dry! In the end it was very good though.

Delicious and moist! Didn't last an entire day.

I have made this recipe numerous times and it has always turned out delicious. I do leave the nuts out of the topping, but other than that, I don't change a thing!

this is very good, i added extra sauce as it seemed to dry. i used peach sauce instead of applesauce. didn't add nuts to topping. yummy

This bread gets an 11 on a 1-10 scale. It is HANDS DOWN the best bread I have EVER tasted!

Just made this bread this morning, and it is yummy. I left off the topping, and added a small half cup of nuts along with the apples. Had to cook it a tad longer because it was still wet in center, but I am very pleased with the outcome and I will make this over and over again. Thankyou for such a moist, delicious recipe.

LOVED IT!! I did not make any changes to the recipe and it was great; I will be making this again!

I made this recipe to take to Easter breakfast at church. When I sliced it, no matter how, the topping almost all fell off. I did not take it. The topping is the most flavorful part of the bread. So I wont make it again unless you can suggest some method (other than Elmer's glue)to make the topping stick.

This recipe was awesome and was my first attempt at making any time of homemade bread. It won rave reviews with my family. I did add just a pinch of allspice and choose a traditional strudel topping instead of one provided - but overall the basic bread was awesome!!!

My picky husband loved this - especially the crunchy top! Used Splenda, Egg Beaters, and a dash of grated nutmeg - delish!

Found it a little bit bland. Maybe try a bit more cinnamon next time?

I made this wanting to try something different. And it was fantastic! I added whole wheat flour and didn't add the topping. But when it was cooling I added cinnamon sugar on the top. So good and so moist! My family kept asking for more.

It's not super hard to make this meal healthier. Use organic sugar, wheat flour, replace 1 egg with some ground flax seed...You can make recipes healthy, you just have to be creative with it! Do research and you will find some great alternatives.

200 calories and 33 carbs in one slice, does not sound very healthy to me!!

While this recipe is very moist and tastes wonderful the recipe pictured in the "More Recipes Like This" area sounds much healthier than this one.

My husband loves "fruit" breads and this one was no different; my addition was 1/2 cup raisins or other dried fruit such as cranberries. I put the nuts in the bread mix as he doesn't care for sweet toppings. I made one small loaf and made the rest into muffins. That way I could have the topping on the one I ate and left his plain. It really was delicious baked either way.

Apple bread is so good, it's a delicious bread to try. I love it and so does my family and we will be making it many more times. It's a keeper for sure and going in my recipe box.

I put Splenda in the recipe and added pecans and left off the topping - sure is nice and moist and great flavor - I also made mine into muffins, so I can freeze some if need be. My daughter loves to make things with apples and I gave this to her - my grandson requested them for a snack to take to school.

I tried to rate this 5 stars, but it wouldn't let me.
I make this recipe once a month...it is so good. I use whole wheat flour with great results. I make muffins because they are so portable. I don't add the topping and they are amazing. Definately a family favorite. Thanks for a GREAT recipe!

I too have a son in the Army currently serving in Iraq. Trying to come up with new ideas for baked goods. This recipe was perfect. I always wonder how things I ship hold up. My son always raves about the cookies, but I was excited to read that this bread is such a hit.
