I got this recipe from my mother-in-law when my husband and I first started dating. Many years later, it's still our favorite salad.—Kim Marie Van Rheenen, Mendota, Illinois

I have to admit that ketchup, vinegar, oil, & sugar mixed together sounded pretty gross. However, I had these ingredients on hand and no bottled dressing so I tried it and everyone LOVED it. I used it on a bag of salad that had carrots and purple cabbage and I added fresh tomatoes from my garden. I will be using this recipe often. I just won't tell anyone that there is ketchup in the dressing : )
