About Macadamia NutsThe macadamia nut tree originated in Queensland, Australia and was brought to Hawaii in 1882. Today, virtually all of the world's macadamias are grown on the Big Island. It takes about 7 years for a macadamia to bear fruit, making the nut an in-demand delicacy. It takes 300 pounds of pressure per square inch to crack the shell of the macadamia, making it one of the hardest of all nuts to crack open. Because of that, macadamia nuts are mostly sold shelled.

This disappeared fast in my house. I also melted the chips so they covered everything and it was great.

I made this for my friends bridal shower in april and I still am getting requests for the recipe in november. I used almonds instead of macadamia nuts to be a little more cost effective. The sweet and salty mix is perfect!

I have made this recipe several times. I use pecans instead of macadamias because I don't care for macadamias. I have made different variations, leaving out certain parts to suit everyone's taste. This is absolutely the best party mix I ever ate! I will make it many, many more times I am sure!

This party mix is excellent for Spring get togethers. Very easy to make and refreshing to eat. The macadamia nuts make it a little more expensive, but I just used one cup instead of two cups of macadamia nuts. Enjoy!
