An Irish meal wouldn't be complete without a lovely loaf of Irish Soda Bread. This recipe makes a beautiful high loaf of bread dotted with sweet raisins. It doesn't last long at our house this time of year. —Gloria Warczak, Cedarburg, Wisconsin

How silly of me! Of course, it's not a yeast bread. Please ignore my previous question. Lovely loaf!
REALLY, you only have to knead this one minute? How coarse is the crumb texture?Did others only knead it that quick? Thanks in advance.

With the day off from school, my 15 year old daughter wanted to make dinner ALL BY HERSELF! She searched through tons of recipes and came up with a Chicken/Potato Soup, this Irish Soda Bread, and a Chocolate Chip Cookie made in a iron skillet with warm caramel sauce. It was all yummy! She was so proud because her big brother had a second helping! I can't wait for her next day off!

This bread was so simple yet delicious. I made it for St Patty's day and it was a big hit. Left over bread was great the next morning with tea. I changed to 1/2 C raisins . Next time I will add a whole cup.

So simple, quick and yummy! Made 3 loaves for friends and 1 for myself. Definitely a keeper.

Made a beautiful high loaf. Crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. Great warmed up the next morning for breakfast.

I made this for St. Patrick's Day dinner. It was very easy to make & turned out well. However, this is just not our "cup of tea" so to speak. Maybe our problem is that we're not Irish.

This bread was so delicious, and ridiculously easy to make. Based on the comments, I figured it wouldn't have enough raisins, so I used 1/2 c. raisins and 1/2 cranberries. Oh, and I forgot about it in the oven, so it was probably in there for more than 40 minutes, but the crust was gorgeous, and the inside was just slightly undone, so it worked out well.

Delicious recipe! However, do not make this recipe BEFORE you are going to serve it--I did, and because it was soo good, it was devoured-and so I am going to have to make it again for tonite's dinner! In place of buttemilk, i used "the cultured Buttermilk Blend" (found in grocery stores) and 1 cup of raisins intead of 1/3 cup, and also added 1 teaspoon of caraway seeds.
