Maybe try Hungarian hot paprika to add some kick for those who think it is too bland, I liked it, but i'll try the hotter stuff next time to see

I made this recipe and yes it has to have a few enhancements to meet my taste, but I feel taht it is worth the five stars I gave it.As far as the burning on or sticking I used 1/2 cup beef broth or 3 cubes beef bouillo. You can also use a crockpot liner and throw it away when you are done.

David, try lightly spraying your crockpot with crisco before you put your ingredients in. This should help with clean up. ;)

My family loved this! I know it's a hit when my wife eats her entire meal. I don't know what all these reviewers are thinking, saying it is too bland. Well, add a spicy seasoning, then it will be perfect. To me it was fine, and I would have liked it very spicy as well. The only, and major, complaint I have with this recipe is that the crock pot was an absolute bear to clean this morning, and that was after soaking all night! It was just around the edge of the pot, at what would have been the top of the liquid while cooking all day. I still had to scrub the pot fifteen minutes, adding detergent, to finally almost get off all of the black, burned on food. That is, I got it to where there are only two tiny smudges still left and I gave up. Those will just have to help flavor the next dish. My family will never be the wiser. This is a good recipe.

I tried to spice it up like a previous review suggested, but I still thought it was bland. It was okay...not a favorite in our house for sure.

I was really curious about the reviews saying this recipe would be 'bland'. They were right. I did read the reviews while making the recipe. I added a 10.5 oz can of beef gravy and a can of undiluted vegetable beef soup. This helped a lot. I will make this recipe again, and after tweeking it, will give it at least 4 stars.
