Heavenly Chocolate Cake

Prep: 40 min. Bake: 25 min. + chilling
Ingredients
1 cup butter, softened
2-1/2 cups sugar
5 eggs
1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup baking cocoa
2 teaspoons baking soda
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1-1/2 cups water

Directions
In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add
eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in
vanilla. Combine the flour, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder and
salt; add to the creamed mixture alternately with water, beating
well after each addition.
Pour into three greased and floured 9-in. round baking pans. Bake at
350° for 24-28 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the
center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from
pans to wire racks to cool completely. Fill and frost as desired.
Yield: 12 servings.
