Ground beef turns an ordinary spinach salad into a main dish. Minced garlic adds just the right amount of zip. You can easily substitute any type of lettuce for the spinach. - Rita Goshaw, South Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Hearty Spinach Salad Recipe
  • Prep/Total Time: 10 min.
  • Yield: 14 Servings
10 10

Ingredients

  • 1 package (10 ounces) fresh spinach, torn
  • 1 pound ground beef, cooked and drained
  • 2 large tomatoes, cut into wedges
  • 2 cups (4 ounces each) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 6 garlic cloves, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Salad dressing of your choice

Directions

  • In a large salad bowl, toss the spinach, beef, tomatoes, cheese, mushrooms, garlic, salt and pepper. Drizzle with salad dressing; toss to coat. Yield: 14 servings.

When putting a garlic clove through a garlic press, there's no need to peel it first. Just pop a clove into the press and squeeze. The garlic gets pushed out, but the skin stays in the press.
