At family get-togethers, our children always request this spirit-warming soup along with a fresh loaf of homemade bread and tall glasses of milk. It has robust flavor, plenty of fresh-tasting vegetables and is easy to make. -Barbara Brown, Janesville, Wisconsin

I've made this for years for my family and now the kids are grown its a favorite for my husband and I. It's quick to make, ingredients are usually on hand and its easy to double. I made this once for a homeless shelter and the guests loved it. Serve with hot bread and a lettuce salad. Yum

"Hearty" is the perfect description of this soup! I added some chopped pepper and used canned green beans. Makes a big batch, so I froze half of it.

This is a great quick soup! The whole family enjoyed it, which can be a difficulty task. The only thing that I changed was rather than using frozen green beans I used frozen "soup vegetables" (green beans, carrots, peas, and corn). Will definitely make again. Thanks for the great, quick recipe!

I eliminated the water & used 1_1/2 32 oz beef broth as I am gluten intolerant & can't have the beef bouillon granules. Also didn't have celery, so substituted green peppers instead & didn't have the fresh or frozen green beans, so added a pint of home canned green beans juice & all. Turned out great & my hubbie really liked it!
