This is an easy, wonderful recipe that is simple enough for an everyday meal but good enough for company. It makes a large amount, so it feeds plenty of people. I serve it with steamed broccoli covered in a cheese sauce and fresh bread.Christine Eilerts, Tulsa, Oklahoma

This is a recipe that I will make again for family and friends. My husband really liked the flavor and that it wasn't weighed down with alot of spices. I just used oregano for the seasoning and a little salt and pepper. Fresh Italian bread and it made the meal complete. Yummy!

Is a slow cooker the same as a crock pot?

I think it sounds good on the stove top or the slow cooker. Sometimes it's nice to put it on ahead of time and be done with it even if you aren't busy. I will try it, sounds yummy.

I have a recipe that is almost exact to this. I have tried this different ways, cast iron pot on the stove top and slow cooker, also in a cast iron pot in the oven, low and slow. It is delicious every way but the stove top doesn't blend the flavors as much. Thanks for posting a great recipe. I use it all the time.

Not all gals here.......You want to take it to the next step? Get some flour tortillas and tear about 3 of them in bite sizes pieces and place in the soup 20 minutes before serving.Enjoy!

I haven't made yet but I am going to tomorrow; when I get the stuff. Sounds great! The Great thing about soup is the Love that is put in it, so matter how you cook it, slow or stove. The aroma and the joy of tasting and stirring is why I do stove top methods. I am home all the time, but busy gals use the slow cooker. I have never made the same soup twice, the same; cause we always seem to add something different. That is whats wonderful about soups, you make them your own. Can't wait to try this one and of course I will add my own touches, don't we all. Love to All Cooks
