I got this grilled chicken recipe from a friend while living in Hawaii. It sizzles with the flavors of brown sugar, ginger and soy sauce. Huli means "turn" in Hawaiian. —Sharon Boling, Coronado, California

I used chicken breasts instead of thighs. I also used ground ginger instead of fresh, and it still turned out wonderful. I've made it quite a few times. We often have 12 or more guests at a time at our home for supper. Everyone LOVES this chicken. This is one recipe that's a keeper for sure.

This is our favorite new grilling recipe! I cut the recipe in half and use chicken breasts instead...just the right amount for my family.

Having made Huli Huli chicken for years. This is good exept there is no pineapple juice listed. That is the first 1st and main ingredient to this sauce. When you think about it, it did originate in Hawaii! Try it next time.

This is one of the best new recipe I've tried in a long time. Had no fresh gingerroot but used 1/2 tsp ground ginger. I used chicken breasts cut in half width wise. This is a keeper recipe I'll us over and over.

This is not a review as I have not made it yet. Has anyone tried making this using brown sugar substitutes such as Splenda Brown Sugar Blend or Sugar Twin Brown Sugar Replacement?

The first time I made this, I didn't let the chicken sit in the marinade for 8 hrs, it was more like a couple of hours. I also forgot to set aside marinade to baste with when grilling. Despite my faults, the taste was still amazing, and it has been requested over and over again. Great flavor, and so easy!!!
