Golden Apple Crisp
This recipe is the ultimate comfort food and feels like home to me. The crunchy almond topping over the warm cinnamony apple filling is wonderful served with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream.Tammy Rex, New Tripoli, Pennsylvania

Ingredients
11 cups thinly sliced peeled Golden Delicious apples (about 12 medium)
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup dried cranberries
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
ALMOND OAT TOPPING:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2/3 cup cold butter
1/2 cup sliced almonds
Directions
In a large bowl, combine the first nine ingredients. Pour into a
greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking dish.
In a small bowl, combine the flour, oats and sugars. Cut in butter
until crumbly; stir in almonds. Sprinkle over fruit mixture.
Bake, uncovered, at 375° for 40-50 minutes or until topping is
