Parmesan PointersWhen a recipe calls for shredded Parmesan cheese, use the cheese found in bags in the grocery store dairy section. Shredded Parmesan is often used in salads or soups where the shreds make a pretty garnish. If grated Parmesan is called for, use the finely grated cheese sold in containers with shaker/pourer tops. This type works well in lasagna and casseroles. (You can substitute either shredded or grated Parmesan in equal proportions in your favorite recipes.) If you decide to buy a chunk of Parmesan cheese and grate your own, be sure to use the finest section on your grating tool. You can also use a blender or food processor. Simply cut the cheese into 1-inch cubes and process 1 cup of cubes at a time on high until finely grated.

We loved this. I did not have the italian diced tomatoes so just added a tsp of italian seasoning and it was awesome. A really good meatless meal. Look forward to adding chicken sausage in the future

We always found gnocchi rather bland until we tied it this way. It is delicious and filling. A great family favorite I have made again & again!

I've made this several times and loved it. The last time I added sliced polish sausage at my husband's suggestion and it was even better.

It is good on its own, but the beans added an odd texture. I made it a second time with no beans and a lot more spinach (thawed frozen chopped kind) and it was better, in my opinion.

Made it for dinner last night exactly as the recipe is and thought it was very tasty. I even brought left overs in my lunch today and it is still just as good.

This was very tasty. For a variation, we used Trader Joe's Gnocchi with Gorgonzola & then omitted the Mozzarella Cheese. Couldn't find cannellini beans - so was fine with the kidney beans. Can also add cooked chicken, or beef to this to make it a meat dish.

This was so delicious my husband and I devoured the whole thing! He doesn't even like gnocchi, which I pointed out to him. He asked if we could have it again next week! I didn't have white beans so I used Pintos and I used frozen spinach because I didn't have fresh. DELICIOUS!!!

I am not familiar with using frozen gnocchi. Do you thaw and cook it before adding to this recipe? It sounds delicious and since my teen-age daughters just announced they were vegetarians (LOL) it looks like a hearty main dish for them and side to ham slices for the rest of us!

This is an excellent recipe, FAST and very tasty! My husband doesn't like spinach so instead I substituted frozen chopped broccoli. Also, I had some frozen pearl onions left over from Christmas dinner and I substiuted the pearl onions for the chopped onion. It's a wonderful recipe and I am grateful for it. Thanks!

I normally do not like gnocchi so I was skeptical to say the least. This recipe changed my mind however! This is absolutely delicious. I added white wine with the Italian diced tomatoes, doubled the garlic, and added additional garlic powder, onion powder, basil, and oregano. We will be making this often! Inexpensive, healthy, quick, tasty, and hearty. Definitely a win!

Although described as a cold night winter's dish, my family would be highly disappointed if I only put it on my winter menu. This is a family favorite for us and a little goes a long way because it is surprisingly filling too. I have made it for family get togethers, and have had high compliments.

The flavor was so wonderful that if you added parmesean cheese, it would actually take away from the flavor of the meal itself.

Excellent recipe, very easy and great for a warm, quick after work meal. I wasn't sure if my husband would like it, but I think he would eat it every other day if I would make it that often! I follow the recipe exactly other than omitting the onion (which we don't care for). Thank you for sharing.

There are many things I liked about this recipe, it was easy to make, it was yummy, it was healthy, and my whole family enjoyed it. My six year could pick around the things he didn't like (spinach). The only change I made was less onion because I thought an entire onion would be overpowering. This is a great weeknight dinner!

Definitely won't be making again. Not enough flavor...needed more of a tomato base. After tasting the dish in its original form, I ended up adding a small can of tomato sauce. Better, but still not that great. I also don't see how beans fit in this dish. The texture of the gnocchi and the beans is the same...too mushy.

This is actually a delicious meal, but I know this because I first encountered the recipe in the "500 Calorie Dinners" cookbook by Eating Well, at least two years ago. There it's titled "Skillet Gnocchi with Chard & White Beans" and it tastes even better with Swiss chard. Swiss cheese tastes wonderful too if you don't have mozzarella handy. I'm disappointed that no one double-checked to make sure the recipe was original or personal before publishing it here.
