Mom always used the same round-headed cookie cutter to make her "boys." They always came out of the oven soft and chewy with plenty of traditional molasses-ginger flavor. —Donna Sasser Hinds, Milwaukie, Oregon

this is the best gingerbread cookie recipe I have ever made. So easy. I didn't have any trouble with cutting them out, the timing for cooking them was just right right. Can't wait to decorate and put them in my gift baskets.

We made these last year and again this year because they were so good! Many gingerbread cookies are so spicy and hard, but these were soft and chewy with a nice amount of spice.

Made these cookies for a hunger benefit cookie walk. Was a bit skeptical since I have never cooked ingredients like this recipe recommended. The dough was soft but after chilling rolled out perfectly. Didn't lose a single gingerbread boy in the cutting. If I were making them for me I would have added more spices but most people aren't as accustomed to the ginerbread flavors as I am. I was not able to decorate mine quite as pretty as yours ~ but they looked good enough to eat. Thanks for sharing a great traditional cookie recipe. Christmas blessings!

We make gingerbread while decorating our house for Christmas & this just became our family recipe! They are very mild but that's perfect for my kids.

I make these with my son every Christmas. They are nice and soft and the dough is so easy to work with. We decorate with a powdered sugar icing and mini xmas M&M's

After reading the other reviews I wanted a bit more flavor so doubled the cinnamon and ginger and added a bit of brown sugar and vanilla. Incredible cookies! These we easy and fun to make with my son and the whole family enjoyed decorating them. The dough was a bit dry when I pulled it out of the fridge but it got better as it warmed up.

I made these with my boys last Christmas. They were pretty good with a delicate flavor, which is fine for me since I'm not a gingerbread fan. They had a good texture and we'll probably make them again this year.

These had very little flavor. They quickly were converted into dog treats!

Super easy dough to work with, and the cut-outs held their shape beautifully! Delicious gingerbread flavor, with or without icing. This recipe is a keeper!

Simple and delicious! My daughter was begging to make gingerbread cookies. I do not bake a lot so I was not looking forward to the time ccnsuming process. A friend recommended this Gingerbread Boy Cookies Recipe. My daughter and I had so much fun. It was so simple, that's saying a lot coming from me. They turned out perfect and everyone couldn't believe how moist they were. We can't wait to make them again.

I made this recipe last year at Christmas. I was very intimidated about working with molasses since I never had before but everything turned out perfect. I used store bought cookie frosting because it was easy for the kids to work with. We had a lot of fun. I think this year I may try manipulating the recipe into a whole gingerbread house.
