Gingerbread Recipe

Gingerbread Recipe Gingerbread Recipe photo by Taste of Home Rating 4

My grandmother first made this gingerbread over 100 years ago. It was inexpensive, and the ingredients were always on hand. I remember that the kitchen smelled like heaven when Grandmother baked her gingerbread. The only thing better was when she took it out of the oven and served it with a generous topping of fresh whipped cream!

My family and I love gingerbread but this recipe just seemed off. I followed recipe exact, but was very bland to us. I ended up throwing half of it out.

Very quick, easy and delicious! It can be made with pantry ingredients and is so festive for the season.

So super simple & classic!! My wonderful husband dreams of gingerbread and I love to make things from scratch...I hadn't made my nan's traditional gingerbread this year because it is NOT a simple recipe; while classic it is VERY involved :o)

This recipe was mixed up in literally less than 5 minutes and in the oven in less than 10. I had to distract my hubby while the cake cooled so we went for a short walk and WOW was this gingerbread a terrific treat to return to!

Definitely will be making it again!
