Purchasing PistachiosWhen buying unshelled pistachios, look for ones with the shell partially open so it's easier to retrieve the nut. Also, a closed shell indicates an immature nut.

My family loved this dessert. The raspberry sauce was good but time consuming. We had a lot leftover but it's good on ice cream etc. I'll definitely make it again.

Light, refreshing and delicious! I thought the raspberry sauce was a nice addition, adding a little tartness to the sweetness; however, my husband preferred it without the sauce. Definitely a repeat at our house!

Lots of compliments. Used the full 8 oz. cream cheese, substituted raspberry liqueur for the orange in the sauce. The dessert is good-with the sauce it is exceptional

I made this for St. Patty's day and everyone loved it!! All the men had 2 pieces. I used shortbread cookie crumbs instead and had to use walnuts because I couldn't find pistachios at either supermarket I went to. I also used all 8 oz. of cream cheese. I also didn't strain the raspberry sauce in one dish and did in the other. Everyone preferred the unstrained sauce. I took it out of the freezer 1/2 hr. before serving and it was much easier to cut and plate.

My husband thought this was an excellent dessert. I found it a little disappointing, considering all that was done to prepare it.

My family loved it! My husband just found out he is (pre)diabetic so by changing up the recipe just a little more, I could serve him dessert without the guilt and blowing his readings way out! I cheated and bought a low fat graham craker crust, used Splenda instead of sugar and skipped the pistachios (only because I didn't have any). Planning on making for Easter!

Wonderful recipe. I didn't have raspberries so I used strawberries and we were very pleased with the flavor. I agree that using the full 8 oz. of cream cheese avoids leftover cream cheese and takes great!

I used a 9" (6 oz) pre-made shortbread crumb crust, sprinkled the chopped pistachios over the crust, prepared the filling as directed except for adding the entire 8 oz pkg of cream cheese (I didn't want 2 oz leftover) & spooned it into the crust, topped the filling (almost to the edges) with the reserved whipped topping, & sprinkled the reserved pistachios on the topping. I refrigerated for at least 2 hours (I was afraid to freeze it because of the difficulty in cutting it). It worked just fine. I served it for St Patty's Day so didn't use the raspberry topping. although I might do that another time. My husband loved it.

9 grams of fat for a dessert is not too much for the average, healthy, person - if it fits into a healthful lifestyle. Fat free whipped cream can not and does not contain hydrogenated fat- it wouldn't be fat free if it contained hydrogenated fat. Pistachios are a very healthy source of fat, and have been proven to have a cholesterol-lowering effect. It is a dessert, and it is delicious. I'm a registered and licensed dietitian in the state of PA, and I give it one and a half thumbs up. If only all of my clients would eat more foods like this and less regular cheesecake, etc. Moderation, balance, and variety - it can't be said enough.

Healthy or not, we're all going to die of 'something' someday! We've all just got to limit our selves sometimes. I love the response of how many pieces the one person ate! You go girl! I'm with you! This recipe sounds great, and I'm sure it'll become a family favorite! I'll make it for a family reunion the end of the month again! :)

We really enjoyed this dessert. I used low fat graham crackers and only 3 Tbsp butter. Since I don't have a spring form pan I used a pie plate. We ate it without the raspberry and whip topping on top. After removing a piece from the pie plate I put the crumbs that stayed behind in the pie plate on top for extra crunch. Next time I am going to use half low fat graham crackers and half fiber one original cereal.

It tastes very good, but it does have a lot of unhealthy oils in it. I really don't like frozen whip toppings.

Frozen pistachio dessert with raspberry sauce is an absolute favourite in our home. My family absolutely loves this dessert and we make it as often as we can. It's a keeper and one that will go in my recipe box.

Actually, it's not "healthy." There is a lot of hydrogenated oil in teh frozen fat-free whipped topping, which is laden with chemicals. Those vanilla wafers have hydrogenated fats, too. So, don't call this healthy!
