I have no problem with negative comments but what is it with the sanctimonious people commenting on this recipe that they state they will never try? Are you reformed alcoholics, addicts or prostitutes?. This is a beverage substitute for a rich dessert. Nothing more. What's the difference? if you've tried the recipe, fine. If you haven't please shut your gob. Your opinion is worthless. Thank you Maria for an excellent dessert beverage. It stands on it's own and is delicious

It was delish...a nice TREAT! "TREAT"...the operative word for you "food police"!!! I so wish TOH would BAN people from making negative "reviews" if they haven't actually TRIED the recipe. In my dictionary, a "review" is a comment stemming from someone who has actual knowledge of something. You cannot "review" a book if you haven't read it...in this case I find it absurd to "review" a recipe if you haven't tried it. That review would then include any problems you make have had with cooking times, ingredients or your like or dislike of the recipe in general. IF you have tried it, offering some suggestions for how you might have made it more suitable for YOUR particular health requirements, might then be in order. As I have said many times, it is rude and disrespectful to trash someone's favorite recipe, who took the time to post it for the rest of us. You are only showing your snootiness. Thank you, Maria, for posting your recipe!! :)

Very good. After reading some of these comments, I thought maybe I was on a political website! Some of you really get radical about your recipes.

I agree with jrl849. I am tired of all the negative comments from the do-gooders. Go join Weight Watchers - who put you in charge anyway?

Try this make-over. Less than half the calaries and fat yet almost as good.

1 cup packed Splenda brown sugar blend

2 ounces semisweet chocolate chips

2 orange peel strips (1 to 3 inches)

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground allspice

3 cups hot strong brewed coffee

1/2 cup fat-free half-and-half cream, warmed

Optional garnishes: cinnamon sticks, orange peel and whipped cream

I have not made this yet, but I intend to. My comment is in response to jr1849 who I agree with regarding the "Food Police". These comments are unnecessary and not helpful whatsoever. Splenda makes a great brown sugar substitute and almost any recipe can be made healthier. Let people make their own choices and modifications to suit themselves. I appreciate the constructive comments from those who actually tried the recipe making healthier substitutions.

I am not rating this because I haven't tried it. Not sure that I would because it seems like an awful lot of work for a coffee drink. But that aside, I am appalled by the comments. You members of the Food Police really need to learn to live and let live. I'm tired of reading recipes berated because you find them unhealthy and so feel the need to judge those who try them.
