Didn't care for it...too sweet!

Tasted good, but too many calories for a beverage.

People-get a grip!!! It is a special drink, probably not something I would drink every morning but something that is a real treat as a special occassion treat! I would love to see what all the food police have in their fridges!!!!

Unbelievably yum!!! I will probably cut back on the sugar a little next time, but I love it!

I have not made this recipe yet but I have flagged it to try. Sounds yummy to me. As I do with most recipes, I QUIETLY change ingredients I know I can to suit my personal preferences and requirements without altering the outcome. With reference to all the negative comments....I think we need to start invading the Food Police websites and start making comments on how to make recipes more fattening and tastier, of course without trying the recipe. Let them see how it feels to read 100 of personal opinion reviews for 1 informative one.

Found this recipe yesterday, made it today. I also cut the brown sugar to half a cup since my hubby doesn't like too sweet. Yummy. Will be making again.

Haven't tried yet, but also getting tired of the negative comments. Don't comment if you haven't tried.

This is a Very good drink. If you drink Starbucks Mochas, they are just as bad. Just remember, everything in moderation, will not harm you. Enjoy this as a treat. Not a morning habit. Jbhickory6 has a good alternate. That was also great!!! Thank you for sharing this recipe Maria ; )

FYI: SUGAR TWIN MAKES A TOTALLY SUGAR FREE BROWN SUGAR SUBSTITUTE THAT YOU CAN USE SPOON FOR SPOON. I AM DIABETIC AND USE IT ALL THE TIME IN PLACE OF BROWN SUGAR. ALSO, FYI, BE CAREFUL WHEN USING SPLENDA IN A RECIPE. I HAVE FOUND IT TO BE 1/2 TSP SPLENDA TO 1 TSP SUGAR SUBSTITUTION. OTHERWISE IT COMES OUT SO SWEET YOU CAN'T EAT IT. I HAVEN'T TRIED IT YET. BUT PLAN TO, USING THE SUGAR TWIN.

I have no problem with negative comments but what is it with the sanctimonious people commenting on this recipe that they state they will never try? Are you reformed alcoholics, addicts or prostitutes?. This is a beverage substitute for a rich dessert. Nothing more. What's the difference? if you've tried the recipe, fine. If you haven't please shut your gob. Your opinion is worthless. Thank you Maria for an excellent dessert beverage. It stands on it's own and is delicious

Gooood.!! I did add a little Balieys Cream , Kaula and a shot Burbon (of your choice). As responce to the "food cops"!! this is not you use every day , birthdays ,New Years and .ah ya know . in moderation .....!!?? ease up and Enjoy!!

It was delish...a nice TREAT! "TREAT"...the operative word for you "food police"!!! I so wish TOH would BAN people from making negative "reviews" if they haven't actually TRIED the recipe. In my dictionary, a "review" is a comment stemming from someone who has actual knowledge of something. You cannot "review" a book if you haven't read it...in this case I find it absurd to "review" a recipe if you haven't tried it. That review would then include any problems you make have had with cooking times, ingredients or your like or dislike of the recipe in general. IF you have tried it, offering some suggestions for how you might have made it more suitable for YOUR particular health requirements, might then be in order. As I have said many times, it is rude and disrespectful to trash someone's favorite recipe, who took the time to post it for the rest of us. You are only showing your snootiness. Thank you, Maria, for posting your recipe!! :)

Very good. After reading some of these comments, I thought maybe I was on a political website! Some of you really get radical about your recipes.

I agree with jrl849. I am tired of all the negative comments from the do-gooders. Go join Weight Watchers - who put you in charge anyway?

Try this make-over. Less than half the calaries and fat yet almost as good.

1 cup packed Splenda brown sugar blend

2 ounces semisweet chocolate chips

2 orange peel strips (1 to 3 inches)

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground allspice

3 cups hot strong brewed coffee

1/2 cup fat-free half-and-half cream, warmed

Optional garnishes: cinnamon sticks, orange peel and whipped cream

Nutrition Facts: 1 cup equals 167 calories, 4.2 g fat (2.5 g saturated fat), 0 mg cholesterol, 30.2 mg sodium, 25.9 g carbohydrate, 1.18 g fiber, 2.02 g protein.

I have not made this yet, but I intend to. My comment is in response to jr1849 who I agree with regarding the "Food Police". These comments are unnecessary and not helpful whatsoever. Splenda makes a great brown sugar substitute and almost any recipe can be made healthier. Let people make their own choices and modifications to suit themselves. I appreciate the constructive comments from those who actually tried the recipe making healthier substitutions.

Reviewed on Jan. 06, 2012 by jr1849

I am not rating this because I haven't tried it. Not sure that I would because it seems like an awful lot of work for a coffee drink. But that aside, I am appalled by the comments. You members of the Food Police really need to learn to live and let live. I'm tired of reading recipes berated because you find them unhealthy and so feel the need to judge those who try them.

Unless you can use that many calories ( sugar & fat) this would be a special occasion indulgence. The flavor combo is yummy though

i hate when people start talking about calories and how fat it is oh god wake up and smell the coffee u have one life in this world and if u r going to eat all day and set on the soffa all day u will be fat this drink is not going to make u any fatter....enjoy life .. stop complaining just rate the recipe if u like it or not..i hate when i see people order big meal and they say oh can i have a diet pop .. now they think they are not diet .. hello that;s the worst think u can drink and all those fat free foods they test like [expletive]... so if u r meant to be fat u r going to be fat this drink is not going to change or make u bigger..

I have not made this but were so shocked by some of the comments left that I thought I just had to say something... I don't understand how people can be so judgmental on something nobody is forcing them to even try. Carolinerbain and kelfield@cox.net are you bored at home that you sit online and see who you can criticize? If you don't want to try a recipe because you might be over weight, I know a lot of ladies who can use the extra calories in the morning.

Enough calories for a whole breakfast without any real nutrition.

Am going to try, I used to make my own cinnabon chocolate coffee drink, will use the Sugar twins, to cut calories & sugar grams. If it is not quite the thing will just try something else.

I have not mde this nor would I. 1/4 cup of sugar per serving. Of course you would get a sugar high with this drink and especially on a empty stomach. Also 1/8 cup of half and half. Leading the obesity train.

Reviewed on Jan. 06, 2012 by Doeye

I used 1/8 cup of brown sugar and eliminated the orange peel since I didn't have any on hand. Very good recipe...and to "Carolinerbain" - don't review if you hadn't tried...your comments are just idiotic...who died and made you judge?

okay... this is to REVIEW the recipe, not to give people lecture!!!!

With the amount of calories, I wouldn't even try this. Americans need to cut down, not add to their weight.

I made this recipe with 1/2 cup brown sugar and it's still too sweet. I'll try it with 1/4 cup next time. I used 1/2 tsp dried orange peel instead of fresh.

Reviewed on Mar. 23, 2010 by treehouse3518

I made this coffee only using 1/2 c. brown sugar (for calorie reduction) and didn't have any orange peel and it was absolutely delicious!
