I have made this cake every year for my mother's birthday! It is her very favorite. I don't frost with whipped cream but serve sliced, strawberries on it and a scoop of whipped cream. Literally melts in your mouth and soooo easy!

I've fixed a recipe just like this several times called, "Meringue Torte". It's so light and refreshing on a hot summer day! I slice strawberries and arrange them over-lapping around the top-center of the frosted cake. It's a showstopper and sooo delicious, people love it!
