Tip

How to Toast Nuts

Toasting nuts before using them in a recipe intensifies their flavor. Spread the nuts on a baking sheet and bake at 350° for 5 to 10 minutes or until lightly toasted. Be sure to watch them carefully so they don't burn.

I have made this salad for a couple of years - got the recipe from a hospital - I also add a grilled chicken breast cut up in pieces.

This makes a great lunch salad. It also went well with Baked orange chicken dish and

Ssweet corn and Tomato Saute.

This has been a favorite for years; I really like the salad with Italian dressing, and fresh pineapple if I've got it.

We do this salad regluarly...except I use cashews, pecans or walnuts instead of almonds and sometimes I add pear as well. I use Brianna's poppy seed dressing. But it's also really good with Girard's White Balsamic.

Great salad! Also used regular dressing instead of fat free. They add sugar in the fat free foods and my son is diabetic so we try and stay low carb.

I have made this and we love it. I have also carmelized pecans with sugar in a skillet instead of the almonds and have added

shredded cheese too.

This is a terrific salad! Easy and quick when you buy already prepared lettuce.

A really nice variation is to substitute pecans for the almonds, add some bleu cheese and use berry viniagrette dressing. Throw on some grilled chicken and you have a nice imitation of Wendy's Apple Pecan Chicken Salad.

Had this for Christmas Eve and it was a hit. Didn't use fat free just regular poppy seed dressing and romaine greens
