I created these sandwiches when I realized I did not have a can of sloppy joe sauce. The sweet brown sugar in this recipe complements the tangy salsa. —Mrs. Krista E Collins, Concord, North Carolina

Quick Homemade CroutonsI hate to waste the heel from a loaf of bread or a few leftover hot dog or hamburger buns. So I cube them into a bowl, spray them with nonstick cooking spray and season with garlic powder, parsley and basil or oregano. Then I bake them on a cookie sheet at 250° until they’re crisp and brown. My family loves the quick homemade croutons. —Nancy C., Windermere, Florida

I just made this for the first time and I love it. It doesn't give me heartburn like the sloppy joes mix in the can!

Really good and easy. I toasted the buns under the broiler and then melted cheese on top.

i've been doing this for yrs. but it is even better with shredded taco cheese added to the top of the meat mix... or even cheddar .jan .t.
