I created these sandwiches when I realized I did not have a can of sloppy joe sauce. The sweet brown sugar in this recipe complements the tangy salsa. —Mrs. Krista E Collins, Concord, North Carolina

Quick Homemade CroutonsI hate to waste the heel from a loaf of bread or a few leftover hot dog or hamburger buns. So I cube them into a bowl, spray them with nonstick cooking spray and season with garlic powder, parsley and basil or oregano. Then I bake them on a cookie sheet at 250° until they’re crisp and brown. My family loves the quick homemade croutons. —Nancy C., Windermere, Florida

Sorry, I forgot to add the stars. ********
This is great!! I did change a little by adding chopped onions & chopped yellow/red peppers.(Because I add them to everything that I can get by with) Then to add some more fiber & nutrition & stretch the mix a bit further I added a can of rinsed black beans, as my favorite purchased salsa contains them, I decided that a little more would be even better. I know that is a few revsions but the basic is so good & the flavor is still intact but the recipe goes a bit further. Yummy! Will make this again. Thank you for the idea of salsa instead of purchased sloppy joe sauce. Wonderful idea. I will make them using salsa from now on.

Sounded like it would be good, so I doubled the recipe! It was great and now I have leftovers also. What a quick and easy meal!

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!!! The kids want me to make this now instead of regular sloppy joes! I omitted the brown sugar....hubby doesn't care for the extra sweet taste. The sauce was a little juicy so I sprinkled a small amount of instant potaoes in it to thicken it...perfecto!!! :)

I made the recipe with 1 1/2 lb. ground beef, used the same amt. salsa & can of soup, and used 2 tbsp. brown sugar (I like it a bit sweeter). My kids loved it, scraped the pan! Thanks--will gladly make it again, & it is just as easy as the stuff in a can.
