Easter Bunny Bread Recipe
  • Prep: 20 min. + rising Bake: 25 min. + cooling
  • Yield: 24 Servings
20 25 45

Ingredients

  • 2 loaves (1 pound each) frozen bread dough, thawed
  • 2 raisins
  • 2 sliced almonds
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • Dip of your choice

Directions

  • Cut a fourth off of one loaf of dough; shape into a pear to form head. For body, flatten remaining portion into a 7-in. x 6-in. oval; place on a greased baking sheet. Place head above body. Make narrow cuts, about 3/4 in. deep, on each side of head for whiskers.
  • Cut second loaf into four equal portions. For ears, shape two portions into 16-in. ropes; fold ropes in half. Arrange ears with open ends touching head. Cut a third portion of dough in half; shape each into a 3-1/2-in. oval for back paws. Cut two 1-in. slits on top edge for toes. Position on each side of body.
  • Divide the fourth portion of dough into three pieces. Shape two pieces into 2-1/2-in. balls for front paws; shape the remaining piece into two 1-in. balls for cheeks and one 1/2-in. ball for nose. Place paws on each side of body; cut two 1-in. slits for toes. Place cheeks and nose on face. Add raisins for eyes and almonds for teeth.
  • Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 30-45 minutes. Brush dough with egg. Bake at 350° for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Remove to a wire rack to cool.
  • Place bread on a serving tray. Cut a 3-1/2-in. circle in center of body. Hollow out bread, leaving a 1/2-in. shell (discard removed bread or save for another use). Place a 1-cup shallow bowl in the hole and fill with dip. Yield: 1 loaf.

I made this for an Easter lunch at my in-laws and it was fantastic!! The bunny was adorable and, by using pre-made dough, it was relatively simple to make. I was surprised how well it turned out on my first try and I got a bunch of compliments. I even took a picture to send my mom. After we at the dip, the kids ate the bunny (OK, I had an ear - yum!). I would definitely make this again and have been thinking to try different shapes for various holidays.

This was easy and everyone was SUPER impressed! No one wanted to eat it because it was so cute!

This is one of the coolest things I have ever made. It was so easy and looked just like the picture. We didn't cut out his tummy b/c my girls thought that sounded dreadful. We just put our hummus in a side bowl. Thank you bunny bread for making our Easter extra special!

So cute, easy to make, and tasty! I just made a spinach dip and used the bread with the dip. Everyone loved it and thought it was cute and must have taken forever.

I made this for the first time today. I'm a teenager and have basically no experience with bread baking/shaping but this was easy and fun, I had left over dough which I used to make flower shaped rolls. Great recipe!

Have made this bunny bread every year since the recipe first was published. Everyone who sees it "ooohs and ahhhs" over it and someone always eats the ears first. It is even more adorable using one loaf of the frozen bread and making a smaller size. Only drawback is that it doesn't stay fresh for more than one day. Makes great toast after Easter, though.

This recipe is easy to make and definitely a beautiful centerpiece. I made this bunny last year and will make again this year!

I think this would be great served at breakfast with a orange flavored butter in the center for people to use to spread on their bunny bread.

I make this last year and everyone loved it. Plan to do it again!

This was so cute. An instant hit! I put a vegetable dip in it, but you could do hummus and pita chips, or guacamole and corn chips. It's just seriously cute for Easter or just a Spring time fun tray.

Everyone loved it! I also made flowers and easter egg shaped bread. I came back to get the recipe so that I can make a teddy bear for a baby shower! I have a picture of mine on my fridge. My family still says it was great. I can't wait for our next get together! I will adapt this to other themes.

I love this recipe! It comes out perfect every time. I like to decorate the tray a little differently than pictured here. Instead of making a vegetable dip, I decorate the tray with colorful foil-wrapped Easter chocolates. It's always a huge hit.

Made this for Easter dinner appetizer yesterday. So easy! Everyone thought I had worked so hard. After the veggies were gone, I told everyone to enjoy the bread - they were hesitant to break the bunny up! Will definitely make again. Thanks.

Many bunny breads every year! I have made this by rolling out frozen cinnamon roll dough and served it with fruit for Easter breakfast. This is so simple to make...I have made it every year since I first saw. Everyone loves it and I bring it to work, brunch and dinner! Can't wait to do it this Easter!

This recipe absolutely fascinates my family so we make it every year. It's fun to do and fun to watch people eating it, so it's one we'll be keeping for a long time to come.

If I don't bring this bunny to our family Easter gatherings, everyone asks where it's at. I made him one year with frozen wheat bread. It was browner in color and just as adorable as the white bread. I make spinach dip for the cut out belly, and we rip the bread apart and dip it right into the spinach dip (that is of course after everyone takes pictures). After making this bunny once, you will be asked to make it over and over again. IT IS DARLING AND VERY GOOD!!!

This appetizer has become a tradition that quickly disappears every Easter. I use my bread machine to make the dough.

i made this easter bread the first time i saw it in quick cooking. I have modified it for breakfast/brunch by sprinkling the bread with Cinnamon and sugar and using fruit instead of veggies and using a fruit dip in the center.

I made this Bunny bread and it was such a hit! Everyone at Easter was afraid to tear it apart because it was so cute! I shaped it exactly like the picture and it turned out perfectly, and I used spinach dip for the middle. For winter I plan on making a snowman :)

This bread was very easy to make using the frozen bread dough. I would recommend adding the teeth after baking. Mine got lost when the dough expanded in the oven. Otherwise, it looked just like the picture! Make it the day you are going to eat it or else the bread isn't as good.

This was also a hit at the Easter Egg Hunt gathering. the ears were king of short, and it looked like a mouse, but it was a great for a first-timer. I just bought a veggie tray from Sam's club and used thier dip and veggies. Pretty easy appetizer for a non-baker. I will do this again every year! Thanks for the recipe.

This is always a big hit. I have made several times over the years. Not only do we utilize it for an appetizer (veggies and dip), we then break away the bread and eat with our dinner rather than baking additional rolls. Thanks for this great recipe.
