Before I tried this recipe, my family did not like this particular cut of beef because it was chewy. But these cubed steaks, slow-cooked until they're nice and tender, are now one of our favorites.Judy Long, Limestone, Tennessee

This is my first slow cooker dish and it was awesome. I really love cubed steak and cooking it in the slow cooker made it extremely tender! I will definitely make it again : )

Family liked it and said it was a repeat recipe. Did not have all the gravy mixes, so made my own. Used onion soup mix instead of onions. Just as good.

I have 2 very picky teenage daughters so I was reluctant to try this because I didn't think they would even try cubed steak. I'm very glad I went ahead and made it. Neither one of them had any intentions of tying it so I planned on leftover for my husband and I. The delicious smell must have won them over because one of them caved and tried it and was raving so much the other one ate some and I had to hurry and make a plate for my husband before it completely dissappeard. They have both requested it since. Very delicious and not at all chewy. A family favorite now for sure!

I have made this recipe many times and it is absolutely delicious. At times I have added sliced fresh mushrooms with beef and onions. Also, instead of cooking in water, I add the gravy mixes to the water and cook it instead of adding the gravy mixes later. I have served it over noodles, mashed potatoes and rice and all are delicious.

This has become a family favorite. If you don't like the overwhelming onion flavor, substitute dry minced onion in place of the raw onion. We also add Worcestershirre sauce to the meat before we add the gravy mixture. We fully cook the steaks before adding to the pot. I let it cook all day and by the time dinner is ready, even the dogs are ready to eat!(Hint: let the leftover gravy completely cool and give it your dog. They will go absolutely nuts!).

I thought this recipe was great. My husband did not really care for the cube steak being so tender, so next time I will just fully cook his in the frying pan and add his to the crock pot a little later. The gravy was wonderful!! It did not take any where near 8.5 hrs to cook. Mine was cooked on low and was done in about 4 hrs.

Tasty, but too salty for us. If I make it again, I will use one pack of gravy & add some flour or cornstarch. Smells so good when it is cooking.

LOVE this recipe - as cube steaks tend to be a tougher cut of meat (chewy) but when you do it by this method OMG sooooooo tender! LOVE it!! we don't like mushroom anything so i just substituted the mushroom envelope w/either another brown gravy or another onion.

Reminded me and the hubby of salisbury steak-yum! I love the onions in this!
Very yummy , but a little tricky to prepare. I had never worked with cubed steaks before and they tend to fall apart very easily while handling them.I also had a problem with them sticking to the pan while browning them in the oil.Very tasty recipe though and I will make again. I seasone the flour, and replaced a 1/2 cup of the water( in the first 2 cups) with red wine and a little Worcestershire sauce and added 1 clove garlic, minced. The cooking time is way too long, mine were falling apart tender in 5 hours on low. Will make again-great with mashed potatoes, green beans and biscuits.
