Crispy Onion Chicken Recipe

Crispy Onion Chicken Recipe Crispy Onion Chicken Recipe photo by Taste of Home Rating 5

My family loves chicken...and I'm always trying new ways to prepare it. This golden brown chicken with its crunchy french-fried onion coating is great with rice, baked potatoes, macaroni salad or potato salad. -Charlotte Smith, McDonald, Pennsylvania

If I could give this recipe 10 stars I would. Excellent. This is now the family favorite.

Thank you for sharing:) I love Taste of Home!

Easy and delicious. Make extra to cut into a salad the next day.

I have made this several times, and only used butter the first time. It really isn't needed, in my opinion, and just made the process more messy. Found the fried onions a little greasy to work with as a crust and eventually started blitzing in the food processor with a couple tablespoons of flour. If you want a crispy outside-juicy inside baked chicken, this is the way to go. Have also brushed with mayo instead of dijon. No matter how I've made it, it has been a family favorite in my household!

Very moist and delicious. My husband and his boss loved it. :)

I also doubled the chicken, but only used the amount of butter mixture called for; I had a little butter left to drizzle over the top. Everyone raved about it at dinner.

The flavor and tenderness of the chicken is excellent. I wish there was a way to get the same results with less butter. It is extremely greasy.

This chicken was fabulous. I have company for dinner last night and decided to try this recipe. It was a big hit and I received tons of compliments. Delish!!!

LOVED this recipe! It was extremely easy and was super moist & flavorful. I didn't have ground mustard so I used about a tablespoon of Dijon. Also used chicken tenders instead of breasts. It was fantastic-even as left overs the next day!

Definitely not as good as I wanted it to be. Way, way, way too much butter - made it slimy and the onions mushy. If I made it again, I would not pour the leftover dipping sauce on it.

Big hit here and extremely easy to put together. I used half the butter and thin sliced the chicken.

Very moist, flavorful, and easy to make. The only change I might make in the future is less butter.

My family LOVES this. I've tried a few other variations, but this is The One!

This chicken was delicious, so moist and good. I do think I'd cut down on the butter the next time, maybe using only 4 - 6 tablespoons, and maybe use fewer onions, too.

This recipe is a keeper. It is so delicious, easy to fix, and never fail. It is so good that I might just toss all my other chicken recipes and just stick with this one.

Moist, oniony, crunchy - this chicken has it all!

Very tasty. I used half the butter and it worked very well. Unfortunately because it's so high in calories and fat it will be a treat a couple of times a year. But the taste is excellent.

Yum, yum, yummy! So tender and flavorful!

This is so delicious and so SIMPLE. I sprayed it with Pam instead of doing butter so save on the fat content

Very easy to make & the whole family liked it. I will try using less butter next time, but will be adding it to the box.

Reviewed on Jun. 28, 2010 by desalvo_b

Super easy to make and delicious for everyone. I used the amount of butter called for and it seemed to work fine though, onions still came out nice and crispy. I used only three chicken breasts instead of four.

Moist and flavorful. I didn't have quite enough fried onions on hand and so replaced about 2 oz. of that with some panko bread crumbs. It turned out great!

I agree with the others. This is a wonderful tasting and very easy to prepare recipe! I have a feeling that it isn't all that healthy, but it is very good. We have it at least once or twice a month.

Both my husband and I love chicken so we make it couple times/week. Came across this recipe and it's absolutely delicious. We make long grain/wild rice and cotttage cheese salad along with it.

Thank you for sharing your recipe.

Half the butter is all you need.

Too much soaks the french fried onions. Donna

Very tasty! However, I would double the amount of chicken for this recipe. Too much butter for four pieces.
