Crisp Butter Cookies Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 5 egg yolks
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • Colored sugar

Directions

  • In a bowl, cream butter and sugar. Blend in egg yolks. Add flour, 1 cup at a time, beating well after each addition. Dough will be very stiff.
  • On a well-floured surface or pastry cloth, roll out dough to a 1/8-in. thickness. Using a pastry wheel or knife, cut into 2-1/2-in. squares, rectangles or diamonds. Place 1/2 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets. Sprinkle with colored sugar.
  • Bake at 375° for 7-8 minutes or until lightly browned. Yield: 6 dozen.

Nutritional Facts 1 serving (2 each) equals 77 calories, 3 g fat (2 g saturated fat), 36 mg cholesterol, 27 mg sodium, 11 g carbohydrate, trace fiber, 1 g protein.

I think vanilla was left out of the recipe....

If I could give this recipe no stars I would. As the two other reviewers said, it's very bland. No amount of colored sugar could improve that.

Needed flavoring. No taste. Too crumbly not crispy.
